About The Specialist

I’ve been an acrobat since age 6, a diver since age 16, a diving coach for 10 years, an Olympic hopeful for 3, and now I am a diving board mechanic. Hi my name is Luke Winkler.

In 2018 we started fixing diving boards around the DMV because nobody took care of them. We love working with our hands and certainly love diving so naturally it grew until we were able to make it a full time job. Tyler (my cousin) and I have grown the company to now be servicing over 40 pools in the DMV.

Maintenance

Diving boards sit on a fulcrum which is made up of many moving parts. Some of these parts are plastic to prevent metal on metal contact which damages the equipment. Though effective in separating the aluminum, plastic is fragile and these pieces tend to break over time. The fulcrum needs to be taken apart at least once a year in order to clean out the “pluming” where the grease flows, otherwise greasing the fulcrum will not reach all the parts.

Due to constant interaction with chlorine, aluminum bolts will oxidize and rust over time. These bolts need to be drilled out and replaced with stainless steel.
